Implemented in v3.1! Converting a capture should present a dialog allowing you to automate this behaviour.

Hello Brandom, Why have to choose between deleting or not deleting a capture? It would be possible to have an option "Convert to action" and another "Duplicate action". In this way, the first option would delete a capture after converting it into an action and the second could preserve both.

Hi Tommy, thanks for getting in touch. I can confirm this is the expected behaviour for now.
I plan to change this in the future and ask users for their preference on whether to keep/trash captures automatically.

Brandon Thio: Thanks! I’ve been learning GTD recently and I was happy to find you converted your app to be more GTD focused. Was your intention for users to delete inbox items after they process them? Is there a recommended flow? Sorry if these are dumb questions!

Tommy: Please don’t apologise they are perfectly valid questions! And frankly I still have lots to learn about GTD also so I’m no expert.
To answer your questions, yes - in many cases the user would trash a capture once it has been processed.
A recent update introduced the concept of a Trash/Recently Deleted list, which means that captures (and actions) are kept for at least 30 days before being permanently deleted. So feel free to trash items without worrying that they would be gone forever!

Tommy: Also, not sure if you’ve seen it already, but you can refer to the user guide (https://www.yata-gtd.com/User-Guide/📚-Getting-Started) for more information about recommended workflows.
It’s not super comprehensive right now but I’m updating it continuously with more content as I learn!
